Tehran denies bringing weapons to Armenia through Iran

Tehran has denied reports by some media that weapons and military equipment were being transported to Armenia through Iran.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzad denied the allegations at a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday. News from Iran Daily and Reuters.

He said that the transportation of civilian goods between Iran and neighboring countries was normal and regular. However, Tehran closely monitors the goods that are transported through Iran as transit routes in trucks and other heavy vehicles.

A spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that under no circumstances would Iran allow its territory to be used to transport weapons or military equipment to another country.

Russia has sent three MiG-29 fighter jets to Armenia using Iranian airspace, according to media reports.

Clashes between the armies of the two countries have resumed since Sunday morning for control of the Nagorno-Karabakh region that borders Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan and Armenia are neighbors of Islamic Iran. So far, hundreds of people, including women and children, have been killed in the clashes.

The United Nations has called for a ceasefire between the two parties. Iran has asked the two countries to end the conflict, sit down to talk and offer to mediate in resolving the dispute.
