Rangpur: Rangpur District BCL Chairman Mehedi Hasan Rony has been charged with multiple counts of rape and abuse of women.
The victim, a school teacher, brought the case to the Rangpur Kotwali Metropolitan Police Station on Saturday (September 5) afternoon.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Kotwali Metropolitan Police Station, Abdur Rashid, confirmed the matter.
According to sources in the case, the teacher had a long love affair with the president of BCL, Mehedi Hasan Rony. In this situation, if the victim wants to establish a physical relationship, the woman proposes marriage. On April 18 last year, the president of the Nilphamari district BCL, Sajal Kumar, secretly married her to a fake kazi and raped her. He took her to different places in India, including Meghalaya, Siliguri, and Mumbai, and raped her regularly. He also came to a rented house in Rangpur Keranipara on June 5, spent the night there and raped her more than once.
If he continues like this, the victim asks him to give her the status of wife and the student mentions the political position and asks him to wait. The woman also claimed that she had taken 16 lakh rupees from her for her love over the past four years.
In this context, the victim told banglanews, I have a four-year relationship. The fake marriage has finished me. Now she threatens me in various ways. They are also trying to fire me. He and his people are also bullying my father, the freedom fighter, in various ways.
Rangpur District BCL Chairman Mehedi Hasan Rony, who is accused in the case, said: “I had a good relationship with the woman.” A clique has brought a case against me, tempting them to politically harass me.
Meanwhile, on Sunday afternoon (September 6), followers of BCL leader Rony held a protest outside the police station demanding the withdrawal of the ‘fake’ case.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of Rangpur Kotwali Metropolitan Police Station, Abdur Rashid, said a case had been filed. The matter is being investigated.
