Dhaka: The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling potatoes at Tk 25 per kg by truck in Dhaka city from next Wednesday (October 21).
This information was given in a press release from the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday (October 20).
According to a press release, TCB will start selling potatoes at Tk 25 per kg from next Wednesday, following the instructions of Trade Minister Tipu Munshi. TCB will start selling potatoes through trucks in important places in Dhaka city. Potatoes will be sold at Tk 25 / kg at Rs 2 / kg. At the same time, onion, edible oil, sugar and lentils will be sold at fixed prices.
Meanwhile, the Department of Agricultural Extension and Agricultural Marketing held an emergency meeting with grassroots farmers, potato wholesalers and retailers, representatives of cold storage companies and other interested parties on Tuesday afternoon. After the meeting, the Director General of the Department of Agricultural Marketing, Mohammad Yusuf, said that the maximum price of potatoes has been set at 35 Tk per kg at retail. Furthermore, the price has been set at 30 Tk at the wholesale level and 28 Tk in the cold room. This price will be effective from next Wednesday. However, since many people have already bought potatoes at higher prices, the prices can vary from place to place. Little by little it will become normal.
Previously, the Agricultural Marketing Department had set the price for potatoes at Rs 30 per kg at retail, Rs 25 at wholesale, and Rs 23 in cold storage.
