Two villages in Shalikha de Magura and its Bagharpara upazila adjacent to Jessore were locked up when a coroner was found to be leading Tarabi’s prayers at the mosque on Saturday night. At the same time, a local road in the Shalikha-Baghar neighborhood has been closed.
Magura officer Shalikha Upazila Nirbahi (UN), Mohammad Tanvir Rahman, said the Adadanga village has been closed by the upazila administration with a public notice after Corona was confirmed. Aside from this, the locals involved have been subjected to a local road block for miles. In addition, steps are being taken to collect samples, including those that have offered prayers at the mosque, including Anas under the health examination of concerned health officials.
UNO Tanvir Rahman further said: “Although Tarabi started with 13 people, including the Imam, we have come to know that between 20 and 25 people have prayed in the mosque later.” Necessary is being taken on the list in this regard. Given the health risks, we attach great importance to making an accurate list of the participants in the prayers and taking the necessary steps accordingly.
The Imam’s house identified as Corona is located in the western village of Bagharpara in Jessore. He led Tarabi prayers at a mosque in the Adadanga village of Shalikhar in Magura, 1.5 km from his home, on Saturday night. On the same morning, he gave a crown sample while coughing at the Shalikha Upazila Health Complex. His sample from the Jessore University of Science and Technology lab tested positive on Sunday. Upon learning this, the Imam village, Paschima and Adadanga of Shalikha in the Magura village adjacent to that mosque in Magura were locked up.
In this regard, Zillur Rahman, Education and Health Officer of Magura’s Office of the Civil Surgeon, said: Speaking with the administration in question, arrangements have already been made to declare the western closure of Imam Bagharpara’s own village in Jessore. In addition, all necessary measures are being taken for the health alert in both areas.
