The police have rescued Taiba, a two-month-old girl, who was stolen from the Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex in Natore eight days later. Natore District Police Superintendent Liton Kumar Saha confirmed the information at a press conference at the police station premises at 11:30 am on Thursday.
At the press conference, the police superintendent said that Shakila, wife of truck driver Saidul from Tirail village in Baraigram upazila, stole the boy from Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex. With the help of the information obtained from the hospital’s CCTV images and modern technology, a special team of police, DSB, DB and the police conducted a seven-day operation at different locations in the Pabna, Sirajganj and Natore districts. At one point, police arrested Shakila from the Kalikapur area in Baraigram upazila on Wednesday night. At that time, the police rescued the child Taiba and returned him to his mother’s lap.
Shakila stole the baby
Shima Begum and Tafiz Uddin, the mother of the child Taiba, have demanded exemplary punishment for the defendant Shakila. Shakila said that truck driver Saidul is her second husband. A couple of months ago she also gave birth to a daughter. At that time, Shakila adopted the girl from a childless family because her husband did not support her. A few days later, her husband Saidul began torturing her to get her adopted son back. So he decided to pick up a baby anyway. In this context, he stole the child Taiba from the Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex.
Gurudaspur Police Station OC Abdur Razzak said that Taiba, a two-month-old baby of Shima Begum, wife of Tafiz Uddin from Mashinda Majhpara village in upazila, was stolen from the hospital on December 23. When the boy’s father presented a case to the Tafiz Uddin police station, they rescued the boy on the night of Wednesday, December 30, seven days later and returned him to his mother’s lap. The defendant Shakila was sent to the Natore District Jail on Thursday.
