In the election of the Bangladesh Soccer Federation, there has been a dramatic tie for the vice president position. Although three vice presidents were chosen by a clear margin, the tie ended in fourth place. Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi and Tabitha Awal got 75 votes each.
Re-election will be the result of this unresolved election. Chief Elections Commissioner Mesbah Uddin Ahmed said that the re-election between Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi and Tabitha Awal would take place on October 31 (Saturday).
Meanwhile, former footballer Kazi Salauddin has been elected president of the Bangladesh Football Federation for the fourth time. Kazi Salauddin became president after winning by a large margin against Badal Roy and Shafiqul Islam Manik.
He won the elections held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. Another former footballer, Abdus Salam Murshedy, has been elected BFF Senior Vice President in the new term. Like Kazi Salauddin, he became Senior Vice President for the fourth time in a row.
In this long-awaited election, 135 of the 139 votes were cast. Kazi Salauddin got 54 votes more than his closest rival Badal Roy. Along with his name 94 votes were cast, Badal Roy obtained 40 votes. The third candidate for the post of President Shafiqul Islam Manik got 1 vote.
On the other hand, Salam Murshedy has also won the position of Senior Vice President. Along with his name, 91 votes were cast and his rival, Sheikh Mohammad Aslam, got 44 votes.
Kazi Salauddin’s joint council has won the position of president and senior vice president, as well as vice president. Imrul Hasan came first with 69 votes, Kazi Nabil Ahmed came second with 61 votes and Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik came third with 75 votes. All three are members of the joint council of Kazi Salauddin.
There are four vice presidential positions in total. The fourth vice president is tied. Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi of the Coordinating Council and independent candidate Tabitha Awal obtained 65 votes. In addition, the other three candidates for the office of Sheikh Muhammad Maruf Hasan obtained 81 votes, Amirul Islam Babu 57 and SS Abdullah Fouad 48 votes.
Amirul Islam Babu was unable to win the post of vice president despite being elected to Kazi Salauddin’s joint council. Vote counting for BFF membership continues.
