Scientists say that any virus changes its type, speed, nature over time and that is normal. Like other viruses, it is a continuation of the new type of coronavirus.
Dr. Sameer Kumar Saha, executive director of the Child Health Research Foundation, who discovered the genome sequence of coronaviruses in Bangladesh, said: But at the moment, scientists cannot do anything, doctors cannot do anything. So we have to be careful.
A new strain of coronavirus was identified in Bangladesh in the first week of November.
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research said Thursday it had tested 16 new genome sequences and found new strains of the coronavirus in five of them.
Dr Selim Khan, the council’s chief scientific officer, said the new strain identified in the UK had many similarities, though not entirely similar to those found in Bangladesh.
However, says Dr Sameer Kumar Saha, “Bangladesh bears no such resemblance to the UK strain. All the sequences we have done in Bangladesh have been uploaded to GSID. It has nothing to do with the strain found in the UK.
Meanwhile, there is concern on the public mind about finding a new type of coronavirus.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research in Bangladesh says there is nothing to worry about with this new strain of coronavirus being identified in the country.
What are the authorities doing to prevent this new type?
ASM Alamgir Hossain, scientific director of the institute, said: “Hygiene is being followed and precautions are now being taken at the airport. I asked to bring the PCR certificate to the airport. We take special care at the airport for those coming from England.
News of this new strain comes at a time when the coronavirus vaccine has been discovered and several countries have already begun vaccinating the general public.
Dr. Sameer Kumar Saha said that the vaccine will work to prevent the transmission of this new type of virus.
When the virus spread rapidly in the UK and some countries stopped flying into the country, many questioned when a UK plane landed in Sylhet with some 200 passengers in Bangladesh.
However, the IEDCR says they had a health certificate. They have also been ordered to remain in quarantine.
