Munshiganj: Span 38 of the Padma Bridge could settle on Thursday (November 5) or Friday (November 8) unless favorable weather and technical complications are observed. The span called ‘Wab-B’ will be placed on the second and third piers on the Mawa side of the bridge.
If the section is installed permanently thanks to the efforts of local and foreign engineers, 5,400 meters of the bridge will be seen.
Last month, four spans were installed on the Padma Bridge, which is a great achievement for the engineers. Interested authorities also have plans to install four sections this month.
The 150-meter-long span will be transported by a floating crane from Munshiganj’s Mawa construction yard around 1pm on Thursday. From there it will depart and take you to the designated pillar. If all goes well after staying there, it will set on Thursday. If there is not enough time to install the span, the span installation work on the abutment will begin on Friday. That is exactly what planning engineers do. A letter has also been sent about it.
An engineer, who did not want to be named, said the location of Pillar 2-3 is at the Mawa end of Munshiganj. Near the banks of the Padmanabha River. The floating crane with a 3,600 ton capacity has already been dredged to reach the piers. In addition, all kinds of preparations have also been made. It is hoped that you will not have to go too fast to anchor. Since the distance from the construction yard to pillar number 2-3 is not too much, it will be possible to reach the specified place in 25-30 minutes. It takes two days to install the span. On the other hand, 5 openings will be left at Padma Bridge. These are: section 36 (2-C) on November 11 Pillar 9 and 10, section 38 (1-A) on pillars 1 and 2 on November 16, section 39 (2-D) on pillars 10 and 11 on November 23, December 2 pillar Section 40 (2-E) on 11 and 12 and the last section 41 (2-F) on December 10 will be settled on pillars 12 and 13.
According to sources, the overall progress on the entire Padma Bridge project as of October 31 is 72 percent. River governance work progress is 75 percent. Actual work progress on the main bridge is now 90.50 percent. Construction of the Padma Bridge began in December 2014. Of the 2,918 road slabs on the main bridge, more than 1,018 have been laid. Of the 2,959 railway slabs, more than 1,846 slabs have been installed. Of the 484 T-beams on the Mawa and Jajira viaducts, 256 have been installed. In addition to the installation of spans, the installation of slabs is also underway. Although four months of light could not be installed in flood and corona situations, four lights were installed in October.
According to engineering sources, 41 spans will be installed on a total of 42 piers on the Padma Bridge. 35 spans and 5,250 visible meters have already been placed. And the remaining 900 meters visible with six spans.
The entire bridge measures 6,150 meters (6.15 kilometers).
China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Company Limited (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working on the main bridge, and Sino Hydro Corporation, another Chinese company, is working on managing the river.
