Following in the footsteps of their senior teammates Shakib, Mushfiqur and Ashraful to help those affected by the coronavirus, two of the country’s top cricketers, Soumya Sarkar and Taskin Ahmed, decided to auction off the first two.

The majestic Sarkar obtained the fastest test century for the country. He marked a century of testing with just 54 balls against New Zealand last year. The tough hitter announced he would auction the record bat.

Meanwhile, pacemaker Taskin Ahmed holds the record for the country’s only ODI hat-trick. He scored a great hat-trick against Sri Lanka in 2016. Taskin announced that the ball would be auctioned.

On Sunday, Bat Shakib auction house Auction for Action auctioned off Saumya Sarkar’s bat and Taskin’s hat-trick.

During the auction period until 11.59 pm, Soumya’s maximum bat price was Tk 4.5 lakh and Taskin’s maximum ball price was Tk 4 lakh.

A bank is known to have won the auction and bought the bat and ball. However, the name of the bank was not known.

Arif R. Hossain, one of the owners of Auction for Action, said details of the Saumya and Taskin buyers will be released Monday at 12 noon.

Soumya and Taskin will spend all proceeds from the sale of the bat and ball for people who were left defenseless during the Crown period.
