The first of three aircraft purchased at GTZ between the Government of Bangladesh and the Government of Canada will be added to the Biman Bangladesh Airlines fleet on November 24. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called this plane “Dhrubatara”.
With the addition of three Dash 8-400 aircraft to the fleet, the aircraft will be able to operate more flights on its short-haul domestic and international routes.
According to a press release issued by Biman, the new, next-generation Dash 8-400 aircraft built by the Canadian company De Havilland will have 74 seats. The Hepa filter technology will rid the air inside the aircraft of bacteria, viruses and other germs in just four minutes. The aircraft will also have a large space between the two seats, LED lighting and large windows to make the trip comfortable and enjoyable.
The number of aircraft in the fleet will be 19, including the new Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft. Of these, 14 are owned and five leased. Of its own 14, Boeing 7-300 ER four, Boeing 7-8 four, Boeing 8-9 two, Boeing 737 two and Dash-6 two.
