RAB arrested six members of an international snake venom smuggling ring worth Tk 65 crore in a raid in the area of ​​the Dakshinkhan police station in the capital. According to the RAB, 8 kg 98 grams (including the vial) of snake venom were found in the glass vial of the arrested persons. The estimated value is 75 crore rupees.

According to UNB, the information was given in a press release signed by senior ASP official Abdullah Al Mamun of RAB-2 on Friday.

According to the RAB, on the basis of secret information, a RAB-2 team learned Thursday that some members of the international smuggling ring were staying at Gulbar Munshi Sarani, Ward No. 50 below the Dakshin Khan Police Station. with a lot of snake venom. Based on this news, the RAB team conducted an operation there on Thursday afternoon. Sensing the RAB’s presence, they tried to flee. At that time, the RAB arrested them.

The bags containing the detainees were searched and a CD on snake venom and a manual on snake venom were recovered. The RAB knows that there is a high demand for snake venom among certain groups. For more profit, snake venom is collected and smuggled from different parts of the world. The arrested defendants are active members of the international snake venom smuggling ring, RAB said.

Interrogation of the detainees revealed more important information and after verifying and classifying them, the RAB will continue such operations in the future, according to the press release. Legal action is being taken against the detainees.
