Six members of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s family have been given the great responsibility of the Juba League, an ally of the Awami League. Sheikh Fazle Fahim and Barrister Sheikh Fazle Naeem are cousins of the president of the Juba League, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash. Juba League founder Fazlul Haque Moni and former Juba League president Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim are the children of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s half-sister, Sheikh Asiya Begum.
Another member of the Bangabandhu family, the member of the presidium of the Juba League Faridpur-4 MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon. Lawyer Taufiqur Rahman, grandson of Bangabandhu’s Sage sister Amena Begum and Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabat, has become a member of the executive committee of the Awami Juba League of Bangladesh. Barisal-1 MP Abul Hasnat Abdullah is his uncle. The lawyer Taufiqur Rahman is the son of the poet Shamsur Rahman and the son of the lawyer Tofailur Rahman. He was elected to the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Awami Lawyers Council and Secretary to the Narsingdi District Lawyers Council. Lawyer Taufiqur Rahman was a candidate in the electoral district of Narsingdi-5 (Raipura) in the last national elections.
Attorney Sheikh Fazle Naeem, the youngest son of Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, has been elected deputy general secretary of the Juba League.
