Gunmen shot dead eight people at three spa centers in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. At least six of them are Asian women. Hate crimes and discrimination against Asian Americans have increased in the United States recently. Meanwhile, this brutal attack took place on Tuesday. Police arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of being involved in the incident. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving office.
Four people were killed in an attack on a massage parlor in Auckworth, Atlanta, police said. The other four were killed in two other halls of the city. South Korea said four of the dead were citizens of its country.
The first attack Tuesday took place in Ackworth in Cherokee County around 5 p.m. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Jay Baker said two people died at the scene and three were taken to hospital. Two more died there. He later confirmed that two Asian women were among the victims. The other two are white men and women. Another Hispanic was injured.
Less than an hour later, local police received another phone call alleging a robbery at the Gold Spa in northeast Atlanta. Upon arrival, police officers found three women dead in the shooting. Police found the bullet-riddled body of another woman at another spa center across the road. All four are women of Asian descent, police said.
After viewing CCTV footage, investigators released a photo of a man who was seen near at least one of his sparrows. Police said Robert Aaron Long, a resident of Woodstock, Georgia, was later arrested in a raid in a town about 150 miles away.
Captain J. Baker said investigators had a “firm belief” that the suspect was involved in all three attacks. Authorities say it is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving office.
