The retired Major Sinha said. A committee set up by the Interior Ministry to investigate Rashed Khan’s death has asked for a few more days in the third phase to present its report. The Chittagong Division Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development), Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, head of the committee, said this on Sunday.
The day of presentation of the report of this committee ends on Monday (August 31) according to the scheduled time.
The four-member committee met non-stop at Hilldown Circuit House in Cox’s Bazar from morning until late today. Mizanur Rahman said it was decided to request the ministry to extend the meeting.
He told reporters at 7.15pm: “It has not been possible to meet the dismissed police officer from Teknaf Pradeep Kumar Das Police Station and take his statement yet.” You need to talk to him to finalize the investigation report. The report could not be finalized because his statement was not received. The committee has almost completed the work of preparing the report without your statement. The committee has made a list of 6 people and so far 8 people have taken statements. All these statements are being sorted and analyzed.
The other three members of the committee were present at the time. Colonel SM Sajjad Hossain, Representative of the Police Force Additional Deputy Inspector General of Chittagong Range Police Zakir Hossain Khan and Representative of Cox’s Bazar District Administration Additional District Magistrate Mohammad Shajahan Ali.
On August 2, the Interior Ministry formed the committee headed by Mohammad Mizanur Rahman. The committee met on August 3 and officially began its activities. The ministry set a deadline of August 10 to present the report within seven days. The committee did not present the report within a week and asked the ministry to extend the time by two weeks. The ministry extended the time until August 23. On August 22, the committee again requested an extension. The ministry then extended the filing period until August 31.
Meanwhile, OC Pradeep Kumar Das and Deputy Inspector Nandadulal Rakshita are in RAB custody in a three-day pretrial detention in the third phase. Meanwhile, the investigative committee formed by the ministry has taken statements from interested individuals, including Inspector Liakat Ali and Deputy Inspector Nandadulal Rakshita at Cox’s Bazar District Jail. Now only OC Pradeep Kumar Das has not spoken. Pradeep Kumar’s three-day pre-trial detention will end on Sunday. Kal Pradeep and Nandadulal will appear in court tomorrow.
