The Mro people who live in the Chimbuk Hills in Bandarban have demanded that their former zoom land not be taken away from them in the name of building five-star hotels and tourism.
On Sunday morning, about a thousand Mro residents in different affected areas of the Kapru Para Bazar area held a protest through a cultural exhibition.
It is reported that a wellness organization and the Sikder Group took the initiative to build five-star hotels and tourist spots from Kapru Para to Jeevan Nagar via Naitang Hill. The people on the hill protested against this.
The Sikder group is trying to occupy about a thousand acres of land in the construction of the facility, protesters complained.
They said that in addition to the land of Zum, there is also the residence and crematorium of Mrod.
They also expressed deep concern that if this Sikdar Group hotel is built on Naitang Hill, four neighborhoods of Mrod and 80-116 will be directly damaged.
They also expressed their displeasure that if this five-star hotel is built, some 10,000 farmers in Jum will be at risk of becoming refugees.
The affected Mrora has called for an immediate moratorium on the construction of a resort in the Naitang Hills, including a five-star hotel, within the next five days.
When contacted, Farid Uddin Khan, Sikder Group chief coordinator, said: “We have not taken anyone’s place in the hills. We are renting the land to Bandarban City Council with an eight percent stake and building a five-star hotel there. stars.
However, Bandarban District Councilor Kanungo Mong Shaiching Chak said: “The district council has not reached any such agreement with the Sikder Group.”
