BNP Deputy General Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has said that BNP Vice President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and Shawkat Mahmud have shown an accused cause of breach of party discipline. He said, “Hafiz Uddin and Shawkat Mahmud have been in mourning. Letters have been given since the match. The team decided to write. The leaders and workers of a political party cannot break party discipline. I cannot say openly about the leadership of the team. The constitution also says that organizational measures be taken if the party breaks discipline. No one in the organization can break party discipline.
Rizvi Ahmed made the remarks at a regular press conference in Naya Paltan, the capital, on Tuesday (December 15). BNP leader Abdus Salam, Habibun Nabi Khan Sohail and many others were present at the press conference.
It is worth mentioning that on Monday (December 14) around 2.30 pm in the capital’s Purana Paltan-Gulistan area, more than a hundred BNP leaders and activists held a protest demanding the resignation of Sheikh Hasina. BNP leader Shawkat Mahmud and Kalyan Party’s Syed Muhammad Ibrahim were present at the protest. On the night after the protest, the party high command ordered Shawkat Mahmud to hold a 72-hour protest. At the same time, a letter was sent to Hafiz Uddin Ahmed explaining the reason for the infringement of party discipline within five days. He was accused of openly opposing the party leadership, party sources said.
