Soumitra has fallen in love with acting ever since. After passing the ISC and then the BA with honors (Bengali) from City College, Calcutta, Soumitra Chatterjee studied at the Post Graduate College of Arts for two years. The actor’s Rupoli tour began in 1959. The name of the film is Apur Sansar, which was directed by Satyajit Ray, a world-renowned film director. That pair started that path. Soumitra Chatterjee has acted in 14 of the 34 films directed by Ray, which is a rare achievement.

On October 5, the actor’s Covid-19 report was positive. Soumitra Chatterjee was admitted to the hospital the next day. Although Corona was released in two weeks, Soumitrababu suffered the following physical complication. In the past three days, his physical condition has deteriorated. Soumitra Chatterjee did not respond to any treatment. Doctors said the situation was out of control.
