Sheikh Hasina’s father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was a man of politics from head to toe. He is the architect of the independent state of Bangladesh, the father of the nation. Before that, the people of the country lovingly gave him the title of ‘Bangabandhu’. Sheikh Mujib’s policy began with the movement for the establishment of the state of Pakistan. In time, he led the movement to divide Pakistan and establish Bangladesh. A man is directly involved with the birth and death of a country.
Sheikh Mujib was a brave man. The vow of his life was to put a smile on the face of a sad person. He sacrificed his life for the happiness of the people. The prison, the gallows, nothing could distract him from his goal. It is natural for its value to flow in your blood.
Sheikh Hasina was born into a family of politicians. Politics is mixed in his blood. His father married a nuclear scientist to keep him out of the unsafe, uncertain, and turbulent path of politics. The 1960s were a brilliant time for Bengalis to seek self-realization and identity. Not only was there a public protest against the Ayub military government, but the necessary elements for the development of the Bengali nation were also being brewed through various events. It was at this time that secular nationalist ideas gained momentum. Ayub-Monaim’s ploy against Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was virtually increasing his popularity and he was becoming the undisputed leader of the Bengali nation.
The glorious period of the student movement was also the sixties. As a school, college, and university student, Sheikh Hasina was also an active fighter writing the glorious news of that time. The goal was to return Bangladesh to the Pakistani fold, to ensure that the Awami League could never rise again. On August 15, Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, were not in the country. If they had, the killers may not have kept them alive. Perhaps this is a prominent provision from history. The August 15 massacre baffled the Awami League. So the Awami League could no longer turn around, the Awami League could not remain as a united force as it faced various conspiracies on and off.
Upon returning to the country on May 16, 1981, Sheikh Hasina took command of the Awami League. He crossed paths with a friend and brought the Awami League back to power in 1996, after 21 long years.
