Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been ranked 39th among the 100 most powerful women in the world by the prestigious American magazine Forbes.
The list, titled ‘The Hundred Most Powerful Women in the World’, was published on the magazine’s website on Tuesday (December 6).
German Chancellor Angela Merkel topped the list for 10 consecutive years, followed by the president of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde.
The newly elected vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris, is ranked third and Queen Elizabeth II is ranked 48th on the list.
Forbes has said in the profile of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh that Sheikh Hasina is working to establish a cohesive democracy in the country.
The magazine also wrote that the ruling Awami League president, Sheikh Hasina, is the longest-serving prime minister of Bangladesh.
This is his fourth term and his third in office. He plans to focus on key issues like food security, access to education and healthcare in his fourth term.
