A housewife (18) went to the Shibganj Police Station in Bogra to file a case of attempted rape. The mother of the housewife demanded justice for Officer-in-Charge (OC) Badiuzzaman and Deputy Inspector (SI) Ratan Kumar Roy.

Since her husband was not at home, Rimon entered her home at noon on November 24 and tried to rape her. At that moment, Abul Kashem, a member of Ward 5 of the Pirab Union, entered the house, arrested Rimon and my daughter, and reported it to the police. Later, the Shibganj Police Station OC SM Badiuzzaman and SI Ratan Kumar Roy arrested and took them away. When my daughter wanted to bring a rape case against Rimon, the police didn’t take it. The two were then charged under article 290 of the Penal Code (prostitution). The court subsequently released them on bail.
Furthermore, he said: ‘YES Ratan Kumar Roy took 10 lakhs from me. Police officers have tarnished her image by presenting her daughter as a prostitute without filing a rape case. At present, her in-laws also refuse to accept her. This has emotionally upset my daughter. Unable to find a way, the girl filed a case in court. I demand exemplary punishment for the police officers involved in this incident.
However, OC Badiuzzaman said that the housewife was arrested by people during antisocial activities and handed over to the police. He has been sent to court with a case under section 290. Neither he nor his mother went to the police station on the case.
Shibganj Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police Ariful Islam Siddiqui said he was not aware of the matter as he was on leave at the time of the incident.
Bogra Police Superintendent Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan said the housewife had received the allegations, but that she and her mother were not true. People turned them over to the police. The two were then sent to court under section 290.
A search of the area revealed that the housewife had a love affair with Rimon in her madrasa life. Even after the marriage, Rimon kept in touch with her through his mobile phone. At noon on November 24, Rimon entered the house while walking in front of the house of the housewife’s husband. Abul Kashem, a UP member who was present at the time, arrested them and started screaming. He detained them both until the evening. Unable to take advantage, he handed them over to the Shibganj police station.
Later, the police conspired with Rimon’s father to bring the housewife to court as a prostitute. The role of the police in this incident was questioned. This caused a negative reaction among the locals.
The homemaker has filed written complaints and filed cases in various departments, including the Bogra Police Superintendent and the Shibganj Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police. Meanwhile, SI Ratan Kumar Roy has been transferred elsewhere.
