Police have recovered the body of a young sister-in-law from Dulabhai’s home in Sreevardi, Sherpur on Saturday (April 25) at noon. According to police and local sources, the deceased’s older sister Rima was married to Salat Miah, the son of Shahjahan from the Asandipara village in Vaidadanga, of the Ranishimul union of the upazila. After the marriage, Salat told the locals that he had an illicit love affair with his sister-in-law Sukhi and married.
A week before the incident, Sukhi arrived at Salat’s house. Thereafter the dispute began. On Friday night, there was a fight at the house. When Salat attempted to flee in an autorickshaw with his parents and sister on Saturday morning, the locals caught Salat and reported to the police. Later, the police went to Salat’s house and recovered Sukhi’s body from Salat’s house.
The officer in charge (OC) of the Sreevardi police station, Mohammad Ruhul Amin Talukder, said that the victim’s brother-in-law, Salat, his mother and sister have been detained for questioning and are preparing to present a case in the police station. The body has been sent to the district hospital morgue for autopsy.
