Police have retrieved Shalika’s body from the bed in Dulabhai’s home in the village of Vayadanga in Asandipara, in Sreevardi, Sherpur. The incident took place at noon on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Shalika Sukhi Begum, daughter of Joynal Fakir, a resident of the Kashimerchar village in Bakshiganj upazila. Police arrested 3 people, including Dulabhai, in the incident. A murder case is being prepared at the police station in this regard.
According to police and local sources, Salat Mia, the son of Shajahan Mia from the Vayadanga Asandipara village in the Ranishimul junction of Sreebardi upazila, married Rima, 25, the daughter of Joynal Fakir from the Kashimerchar village in neighboring Bakshiganj upazila ago about 10 years. Thereafter, Salat Mia left Rima at home and had an illicit affair with her younger sister, Tanzina. At one stage, the sister-in-law had a son. Tanzina later died of the disease. He later had an illicit romance with Sukhi, Rima’s other younger sister. There was always a fight between the two sisters. About a week ago, the local Matabbars sent their two sisters to their father’s house through the Shalis village. Later, Salat Mia brought her sister-in-law Sukhi from her father-in-law’s house. Rima also came to Salat Mia’s house three days ago. Her husband, wife, mother-in-law Fulecha Begum and the house next door to Salat Miah and Fakir Miah’s cousin Shanti Begum’s daughter had a fight. After receiving the news this afternoon, Salat Mia retrieved Sukhi’s body from the bed in her home.
Mottakin Mia, a local UP member, said Salat Mia used to work as a day laborer. Sometimes I used to go to Dhaka and ride a bike. For a few days, there has been arbitration in the village due to a dispute between his wife and his cousins over his sister-in-law. Later he sent them to his father’s house.
In this incident, Sukhi’s older sister Rima said that her younger sister had an illicit relationship with her husband for a long time. There have been disputes between them from time to time. This afternoon he committed suicide by tying a rope around his neck. After seeing them, Rima admitted that she put the body on the bed and covered it with a cloth.
Confirming the incident, Sreevardi Police Station OC Ruhul Amin said that Police Superintendent Kazi Ashraful Azim had visited the site. An investigation report was made after recovering the body. The body has been sent to the District Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. Dulabhai Salat Mia, his mother Phulesha Begum and his cousin Shanti Begum have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the incident. Preparations are underway to present a murder case in this regard. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
