At 4 pm on Saturday, a group of leaders and activists held a sit-in at the Shahbagh intersection. When they pulled off the road after three hours, traffic resumed, but there is a huge traffic jam in the Sheraton Total, Bangla Motor, Paribagh and Hatirpul areas.
A Dhaka University student brought a case against Hasan Al Mamun and Nazmul Hasan Sohag, leaders of the General Council for Student Rights, alleging rape. The other three, including Nur, have been accused of being accomplices.
Muktijuddha Mancha took position in Shahbagh on Saturday afternoon while the student was on hunger strike in front of the Dhaka University TSC demanding his arrest.
Arriving in Shahbagh, Manch Secretary General Al Mamun said: “Unless Nurul Gang is arrested or secured, we will not leave this Shahbagh crossing.”
They made four demands, including the arrest of Nur within 24 hours. These include: a nationwide rape trial, the trial of a student front leader for allegedly raping a member of his own organization, and the trial of a party leader for sexually harassing a CPB leader; Ban the Student Rights Council, punish those who insulted Bangabandhu and the Prime Minister in Shahbag.
Nine demands, including the resignation of Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, were made at a rally in Shahbag on Friday in protest of the ongoing rape across the country.
In his response, Aminul Islam Bulbul, president of the organization, said in Muktijuddha Mancha on Saturday: “The father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the honorable prime minister and heroic freedom fighters have been insulted by the fundamentalist evil forces of Bamati-Jamaat in Shahbag on behalf of the movement. The Prime Minister has been insulted with very vulgar and unethical language. Mujib’s coat and the prime minister’s photo have been burned. “
In demanding the arrest of Nurs, Al Mamun said: “The accused Nurul Haq Nur Gangra is proudly wandering and killing the character of the raped girl on various social media and writing obscene and vulgar writings, which is a clear violation of the law “.
“The girl has already been socially degraded due to such atrocious acts of the accused. He has already threatened suicide through a press conference.
Despite announcing that the fighting will continue, Bulbul said upon leaving Shahbagh at 6 pm: “For now we are leaving Shahbagh thinking about the suffering of the people.
“However, if the government does not assure us of the arrest of the Nuru Gang in 24 hours and our demand for four points, we will block Shahbag again.
