The students said that at least 10 students from the fifth and sixth groups were injured in the incident on Friday afternoon. They were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

However, authorities from Shah Makhdum Medical College denied the allegations and claimed that the incident was planned against the students at the counter.

The Health Ministry has ordered a halt to student enrollment at Shah Makhdum Medical College in the 2020-2021 academic year as it does not comply with the policy of establishing and operating a private medical college.

A letter signed by Badrun Nahar, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Health, together with the director of the Shah Makhdum College of Medicine on November 2, also ordered the students to migrate to other private medical colleges of the Rajshahi College of Medicine.

Injured students Raihan, Sushmita and Zeba said a team from the Health Ministry would visit Shah Makhdum Medical College on Saturday. To do this, some expensive items are rented and brought to the university to show to visitors.

Raihan said, “After receiving this news, the university students went there around 5 pm and took pictures of those things. This time “make a movement against the university; outside cadres, including some members of the university staff, attacked us saying” I am showing movement “. They beat us with sticks and took our mobile phones.”

He said that at least 10 students from different groups were injured in the attack.

Chandrima Police Station OC Sirajum Monir said: “I have received a report of assault on students of Shah Makhdum Medical School. Following the accusations, we took a man named Mithu to the police station for questioning. The incident will be investigated and legal action will be taken against those involved ”.

A student named Medha, who witnessed the incident, said: “The attack was completely planned. The bloody wounds were beaten for no reason. We want exemplary punishment for this attack. If the attackers are not arrested soon, we will go into agitation. “

Moniruzzaman, the company’s managing director, told Swadhin bdnews24.com that there were fights between the two parties. However, this is a planned event for students. The incident occurred when a team from the Ministry of Health arrived on Saturday.

225 students have been admitted to this institution without the approval of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). On November 2, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in a letter ordered the closure of students at the university.

Welcoming this decision, the students of the faculty demanded to transfer them to any other medical faculty in a short time.

On the other hand, the college authorities asked the ministry to reconsider this decision. The Ministry has accepted this request. A team from the Ministry of Health will visit the university on Saturday.
