Septic explosion crushes septic tank, kills 2

A septic tank ruptured in a sudden explosion at Fatullah in Narayanganj, killing two people, including a child. Two others were injured. The gas is believed to have exploded in the tank.

The incident took place on the ground floor of a three-story house owned by the Solaiman-Said brothers in the Ramarbagh area of ​​Fatulla around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Jisan, 9, the son of Mamun from the Ramarbagh area and Razzak, 32, a garment worker.

The injured were identified as Shakib, 10, son of Pier Ali and Saida Begum, 35, wife of Khairul.

Akhi Akhter, the wife of owner Saeed, said that around 10:30 am, there was a loud explosion in a septic tank under a room on the right side of the ground floor of the house. The room was rented by four single men. They went to the village house on Victory Day so that there was no one in the room.

The explosion shattered the top of the tank and shattered the walls and doors of the room.

Witnesses said an alley next to the house crossed the wall of the Fatullah Khan Saheb Osman Ali stadium on Main Road. Some pedestrians were walking down that alley onto Main Road.

At that moment, the septic tank in Solaiman-Saeed’s brother’s house exploded with a loud noise. At least four people were injured. The injured were rushed to the city’s Victoria Hospital.

Nazmul Haque, a doctor at the Victoria Hospital emergency department, said two people, including a child, died and two others, including a woman, were being treated. His condition is also serious.
