A court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has sentenced five fish traders to different sentences for robbing a fish market in the capital’s Karwan Bazar. The convicted fish traders were charged with selling rotten fish with banned piranhas, Australian catfish and harmful dyes. The operation took place at the Karwan Bazar fish market on Friday under the leadership of RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam.

Sarwar Alam told reporters about the imprisonment of five fish traders for different periods, these traders have used various chemicals to keep fish fresh for a long time. Also, they use different colors on the body of the fish.

Sarwar Alam added that five fish traders were jailed for one to three months on charges of selling piranhas, a prohibited form of marine rupachanda fish, and selling rotten fish with harmful colors, including Australian catfish.
