A case has been brought against Nurul Haque Nur, former Vice President (VP) of the Central Student Parliament of Dhaka University (Daksu), for sedition in Brahmanbaria.
BCL District President Rabiul Hossain presented the case in the Brahmanbaria Superior Magistrate Court (First Court) Ayesha Begum on Sunday afternoon.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Ekram Hossain, confirmed the matter to the media. He said the judge had taken a statement from the plaintiff in the case. Now waiting for the order.
The attorney said the case alleges sedition, defamation, and disturbances under sections 153/121 (a) and 500 of the Penal Code.
According to the plaintiff, in his RG, Nurul Haque Nur posted offensive, false and intimidating information about the government and various government institutions since his Facebook ID at 8pm on December 16. For example, the Constitutional Institution of Independent Bangladesh called the Election Commission a ‘useless commission’, the legitimate elected government of Bangladesh was repeatedly called an ‘illegal unelected government’, the Awami League leading the Bangladesh liberation war was called ‘anti-Bangabandhu ideology’ Chata Tabedar Sarkar, ‘he said.
