Mukta (30), a school teacher, jumped from a moving boat bound for Dhaka and attempted suicide but failed. He was on his way to the capital, Dhaka, with his mother and aunt on the Sundarbans-10 speedboat that left Barisal port on Saturday night. When the launch reached the mouths of the Taltoli and Charmonai rivers around 10 p.m., the master jumped onto the second-floor deck. At least an hour later, the woman was rescued alive by local fishermen.
Witnesses said several passengers on the Sundarbans speedboat said Mukta was talking to his mother and aunt on the left side of the second deck of the speedboat. Suddenly he got excited, ran and fell into the river. Immediately the boat turned around and went to the place and began looking for the woman but could not find her. Later, the speedboat staff informed the locals about the woman’s fall over the microphone and left for Dhaka.
Confirming the matter, Harun Aur Rashid, a supervisor at Sundarban-10 Launch, said that after the woman jumped around 10 p.m., the speedboat stopped for at least an hour to find her. But the last failure was to move to Dhaka. Previously, local fishermen were asked to search for women using the microphone. Later, around 11 p.m., the news came that the fishermen had rescued the school teacher alive.
The officer in charge of the Barisal Sadar naval police, Abdullah Al Mamun, said that the fishermen had kept the woman in the custody of local UP member Jewel. And first aid has also been given. On Sunday morning, the women will be understood by their family members.
