Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the school admission lottery for the new year will be held on January 11 according to the new calendar.
Under the previous plan, it was supposed to be held on December 30, but the High Court had suspended it.
This information has been reported in a notification from the Department of Secondary and Higher Education on Thursday.
In the wake of the Kovid-19 virus epidemic, this year three alternative methods for school admissions were considered. The first one is to take the students to school as before and take the admission test or take the admission test in the MCQ method. The second was to take an online admission test and the third was to cancel the test and get the student admitted through a lottery.
In the end, in the interest of protecting the health of students, the government decided to hold a digital lottery in the 2021 academic year without taking exams to enter public schools from first to ninth grade.
But the High Court intervened here in the context of the statement of claim against the conditions imposed on the claim. The application process has been modified in conjunction with the suspension of the digital lottery scheduled by the Superior Court.
Students who were previously unable to apply due to age can now apply, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education said.
The application software reopened on December 31 at 5pm. It will run until 5 pm on January 6. Later, on January 11, the digital lottery will be held.
At a recent virtual press conference on admission, Education Minister Dipu Moni said: “In the current situation, it is not possible to bring students to school and take admissions tests. It has been decided to take the admission by lottery after discussing with the experts as it is difficult to include all educational institutions for the online admission test.
For the admission of children, the catchment area has been changed from 40 percent to 50 percent. Previously, there was the opportunity to apply for a group-based school, but now five schools of choice can be selected.
