The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and the English language media outlet of Saudi Arabia, Saudi Gazette, cited the Saudi Ministry of the Interior.

The Saudi government announced the closure of international transport management since last February due to the coronavirus. After eight long months, the Saudi Interior Ministry announced on Sunday the launch of limited international flights between GCC countries, initially limited to compliance with sanitary regulations.

In the first phase, passengers from certain countries and certain categories will be able to travel there. Little by little, aviation in Saudi Arabia will return to normal. The Interior Ministry has said that air, sea and land routes with all countries will be opened in phases from early January 2021.

The Saudi government is in the final stages of preparing to perform Umrah around the world. More new decisions may emerge as coronary conditions improve and vaccines become available.

However, no details have been released on when stranded expats will be able to return to work in Bangladesh and other Asian countries.

Leaders of several organizations working in expat interests say stranded expats will have to wait a few more months to return to work.
