A day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Saudi Arabia, the name Saudi Arabia was removed from the country’s Corona sanctions list. As a result, tourists from Saudi Arabia to Israel do not have to comply with the quarantine.
A secret meeting between Netanyahu and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman took place last Sunday in the popular Saudi city of Neom City. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was also present at the meeting.
Israel’s Health Ministry confirmed to AFP on Tuesday that Saudi Arabia had been added to the list of safe countries. However, Netanyahu’s visit to Saudi Arabia has nothing to do with it.
Heji Levy, director general of the country’s Health Ministry, told state media on Tuesday that it was a normal process. It is done once every two weeks. In the above list, Saudi Arabia was on the ‘red’ list. Now that the disease rate (coronavirus infection) has decreased there, it has moved on to the ‘green’ list. It has nothing to do with anyone visiting any country.
However, despite the inclusion of Saudi Arabia on the Green List, Netanyahu and his staff are expected to return to the 14-day quarantine for strategic reasons.
AFP says that no Israeli prime minister has made such a visit before.
