At the request of the government of Bangladesh, the government of Saudi Arabia has extended the stay of expatriates from Bangladesh. Its term has been extended for another 24 days from September 22. In other words, the expat Akama period lasted until the last day of the Arab tour month.
On Wednesday (September 23), State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam confirmed the matter in a statement on his own verified Facebook page.
He wrote in the state, Saudi Arabia had an extended holiday of four days. Open today. Those looking for Saudi Arabia should know this (no ‘student rights movement’ should know).
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs further wrote that the Saudi government has made the following decisions in response to our request:
>> The Akama deadline has been extended to the last day of the Arab tour month (ie 24 more days from today).
>> Bangladesh Biman has been allowed to operate a total of four flights per week to Riyadh and Jeddah.
>> The visa office of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Dhaka will be open from Sunday. Where consular services will be provided in accordance with the new rules related to Covid-19.
Saudi Airlines planned to sell tickets from September 15 and launch flights from September 23. But that flight is not launching. On September 22 and 23 (Tuesday and Wednesday), Saudi expats protest at the corner of Karwan Bazar in front of the Saudi Airlines office located at the Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. They began protesting at 8 am on Tuesday. More than 500 Saudi expatriates participated in the protest.
They also began protesting on Wednesday morning. The announcement came from the protest around 9:30 am: they will take the demands to the Ministry of Welfare for Expatriates and Employment Abroad, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Public Welfare.
They claim that many visas and akamas have already expired. Many more visas and akamas will expire on September 30. In order to go to Saudi Arabia before September 30, Saudi Airlines flights must launch soon.
