Bangladesh’s Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has said the complication created by the resumption of flights with Saudi Arabia has been resolved. Authorities say Biman Bangladesh and Saudi Arabian Airlines will operate flights from October 1 to September 23 tomorrow. This information has been reported in a BBC Bangla news story.

Previously, the Saudi Arabian authorities did not allow Bangladesh Biman to operate the flight and suddenly thousands of workers crowded in front of the Saudi Airlines office looking for tickets. Because Saudi Airlines announced the launch of flights to Bangladesh.

What has been decided?

In recent days, hundreds of workers waited for tickets on the road in front of the main Saudi Airlines exit in Dhaka. They originally worked in Saudi Arabia; But they are trapped in the country by the closure of international flights due to the global coronavirus epidemic.

Among them are new workers who have everything ready, including visas and letters of appointment, to go to Saudi Arabia.

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. “The Saudi authorities have allowed Bangladesh Biman to operate eight commercial flights a week,” Mahibul Haque told BBC Bangla. Bangladesh Biman will be able to operate flights to Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. On the other hand, Saudi Airlines will also be able to operate as many flights as it wants to Bangladesh.

However, the managing director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Mokabbir Hossain said: “Saudi Arabia has decided to operate commercial Biman flights as of October 1; but landing permit is required before seat assignment can begin. Landing permit not found. As a result, it is not possible to advertise the flight now to begin assigning seats for passengers. The flight will be announced as soon as landing clearance is received.

Mokabbir Hossain added that passengers who have a return ticket to Saudi Arabia will only be assigned seats. New tickets will not be sold for now. You can find detailed information on seat assignment on the Biman website today.

Return tickets will be ‘reconfirmed’ in March, April and May to avoid crowds.

How was this complication created?

Maryland. Mahibul Haque, a worker, said the complication started when the Saudi government suddenly announced that the workers would have to return to Saudi Arabia before September 30.

Due to the epidemic, all international flights to Saudi Arabia were suspended at the end of March and many workers were unable to return to the country.

There are many workers who were unable to go despite having valid passports, work permits, and airline tickets to Akama or Saudi Arabia.

Many have expired visas or are on the way. There are about two lakh of them. Saudi Arabia is the destination for the largest number of workers in Bangladesh.

They were told to go to Saudi Arabia before the 30th of this month. In mid-September, the resumption of international flights with Saudi Arabia was announced.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Bangladesh’s state airline, also wanted to partially resume flights subject to the Saudi government’s conditions.

But the Saudi aviation authority did not give Bangladesh Biman that permission. Subsequently, Bangladesh also revoked Saudi Air’s permit.

Maryland. Mahibul Haque says: “It was very reasonable for the workers to panic. The workers hope to return. Because they are in a very miserable condition with no income. So if there is no flight, how will they get back? The complication that was there has been resolved.
