The High Court has granted a bond of one year to Abul Asad, editor and publisher of Dainik Sangram. Today, Wednesday (September 23), the Superior Court of Justice. Emdadul Haque and Md. A bank made up of Akram Hossain Chowdhury approved the order.
Senior attorneys Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and Mohammad Shishir Monir were present at the hearing on behalf of the court.
In a report published in the Sangram newspaper on December 12, 2019, Quader Mollah, the 71 assassin, who was convicted of crimes against humanity, was mentioned as a martyr. After the news was published, the leaders and activists of an organization called Muktiyuddha Mancha took a position in front of the newspaper’s office. They vandalized and shut down Sangram’s office. Upon receiving the news, the Hatirjheel police detained Abul Asad at the newspaper’s office.
The following day, on December 13, Muktijoddha Commander Mohammad Afzal of Dhaka City Corporation District 36 filed a case under the Digital Security Act indicting seven or eight people, including the editor of the Sangram newspaper. Abul Asad was arrested at the Sangram office on the same day in the case filed at the Hatirjheel Police Station. The next day he was sent to jail. He has been incarcerated ever since.
