A year ago, a man named Rafiqul Islam (45) was killed in Sitakunda, Chittagong. Although the wife is the plaintiff in the murder case, after a long investigation, the wife is finally the main defendant in the murder! The case was presented at the Sitakunda Police Station on Monday (December 21) (Case No. 48). Early Sunday, the PBI arrested Rafiqul’s wife, Umme Salma, in a raid in the Singra Anandnagar area of the Natore district. He was handed over to the Sitakunda Police Station.

According to the details of the incident, Shakib had an illicit affair with his wife Umme Salma. Later, the two conspired to assassinate her husband Rafiqul Islam. He also hired an ‘assassin’ for 30,000 rupees. Later, Rafiqul Islam was killed by slitting his throat in a pumpkin patch.

Later, in dramatic fashion, Umme Salma brought a case to the Sitakunda Police Station in Chittagong alleging the murder of her husband. But a year after the incident, a detailed investigation by the Police Investigation Office (PBI) revealed that the woman was indeed one of her husband’s killers.

PBI official Nazmul Hasan said that Rafiqul Islam and his wife lived in a rented house in the BMA Gate area of Bhatiari Union in Chittagong’s Sitakunda Upazila. On the night of December 3, 2019, Shakib called Rafiqul to the scene. Salma pulled away. Emran and Shakib put her body around his neck in Laukhet.

On the morning of December 4, the police recovered the murdered body of Rafiqul Islam from a laukhet on the Sitakunda-Hathazari highway. His wife Umme Salma filed a case at the Sitakunda police station. Sitakunda police said. A defendant named Emran (24) was arrested.

However, as there was no progress in the investigation of the case, the responsibility later fell on the PBI. In October this year, PBI arrested and placed in pretrial detention Sakibul Islam Sakib, 20, a neighbor of the late Rafiqul. Shakib then gave a statement under section 164 that describes the murder and reveals Emran and Umm Salma’s involvement.

The PBI interrogated Emran, who was in prison, in preventive detention. Emran also gave identical information in his statement to the court. Based on this information, Umme Salma was arrested, said SP Nazmul.

Based on the information obtained from the interrogation of the accused, said the PBI (SI) deputy inspector. Kamal Abbas said: ‘Umm Salma and Shakib had an illicit love affair while living next to each other. A few days later, Rafiqul found out. Then the fight between them began. Meanwhile, Shakib pressured her to separate from her husband. Then Salma said, I’m going to take her out of the world. Salma then hired her former acquaintance Emran for Rs 30,000 to kill her husband.
