A teenager named Sajid Hossain (15) saved the lives of hundreds of passengers by stopping a train bound for Dhaka. At the same time, millions of rupees in valuable assets were saved from terrible accidents.
Kishore Sajid, son of Anwar Hossain and Sahida Begum from Khasbaguri village in Panchbibi upazila district. He is studying in the tenth class of a private school in the same upazila.
According to the locals, Sajida’s mother, Sahida Begum, was crossing the train track near her home. At this moment he saw a crack in a part of the iron plate. He immediately tied a red vest to a pole and asked his son Sajid to blow it up. Later, Sajid blew up a red vest and stopped the intercity train bound for Dhaka.
Sajid Hossain said: I stood on the train track in my red vest to save the lives of the passengers following my mother’s instructions. As soon as the train arrives I keep flying my vest. When the train stopped, he was terrified. Subsequently, train passengers, conductors and many others from the area arrived and applauded. Most importantly, I feel blessed to be able to save the train with hundreds of passengers from the accident.
In this regard, the railway maintenance officer (Key-Man) Raihan Hossain said that after stopping Sajid’s train, he went to the scene on the instructions of the office officials and repaired the cracks in the railway line. After about an hour, the train returned to normal.
Abdul Hamid, assistant chief of the Joypurhat station, said that Sajid was saved from a fatal accident by stopping the train flying in a red vest. For the moment, I would like to thank Kishore Sajid on behalf of the Department of Railways.
Bazlur Rashid, Senior Deputy Assistant Engineer at Joypurhat’s Healy (Way), said the cracks occur due to iron shrinkage due to winter, but there is no risk factor. Where such incidents occur, clips are delivered. In addition, our rail staff always check the line.
