On August 20, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Anshari brought charges against eight individuals, including Sabrina and her husband, JKG Health Care Executive Director Ariful Haque Chowdhury.

The other defendants in the case are Abu Saeed Chowdhury, Humayun Kabir Himu, Tanjila Patwari, Biplob Das, Shafiqul Islam Romeo and Jebunnesa.

JKG Health Care, an Oval Group organization, took responsibility for collecting samples for testing by petitioning the Health Department amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

But in late June, allegations surfaced that JKG was taking money from two sites, Booking BD and Healthcare, with permission from the government to collect free samples. They were also giving false certificates to patients without testing the samples.

The police arrested Humayun Kabir Hiru, a former graphic designer at JKG Health Care, and his wife Tanjin Patwari on June 22 after finding the true allegations of Kamal Hossain, a house keeper in Kalyanpur.

Later, false reports of coronavirus tests conducted on behalf of 43 people, including four expatriates, were found on their computers.

The following day, Kamal Hossain filed a lawsuit against the two at the Tejgaon Police Station. There are reports of misappropriation of funds using government names, risk of spreading life-threatening diseases through negligence at work, and falsification of coronavirus certificates.

According to information received from Humayun and his wife, the Tejgaon police subsequently arrested seven people, including JKG CEO Ariful Chowdhury and his sister Jebunnesa. Later, on July 12, the doctor at the National Heart Institute. Sabrina was also arrested.

The Health Ministry has already suspended Sabrina for violating government employee rules by joining a private company while in government service.

Detective Inspector Liakat Ali filed a charge sheet in the case on August 5 and the charges were filed on August 20.
