The resignation of two additional attorneys general on the first day of the new Attorney General’s three days in office and his assumption of office has created another stir in the Supreme Court and in the country’s legal arena. Following his resignation, rumors have circulated about who will fill this position as the new Additional Attorney General.

Murad Reza has been the Additional Attorney General since March 26, 2009. And Md. Momtaz Uddin Fakir was appointed to the position on July 4, 2010.
An attempt was made to contact Murad Raza to find out the reason for his resignation.
Mahbubey Alam, who has been the Attorney General since 2009, died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on September 27.
On October 8, the president appointed AM Amin Uddin, president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, as the 16th Attorney General of the country.
Only MM Munir now has an additional attorney general in the attorney general’s office headed by Amin Uddin. In addition, there are a total of 224 law enforcement officers in the Attorney General’s Office, including 6 Assistant Attorneys General and 155 Assistant Attorneys General.
Regarding the resignation of two additional attorneys general on the new attorney general’s first business day as state legal director, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin said: “The attorney general’s office is always coming and going. They may have worked for a long time, they may not be in charge due to some personal problem. However, they didn’t tell me about it. Now, if the government accepts his resignation, the president must appoint two more attorneys general.
Meanwhile, if his resignation goes into effect, who will be the next new Attorney General is now the main topic of discussion in the Supreme Court. Will any of the senior attorneys working on the Supreme Court be appointed Additional Attorney General? There are rumors among the lawyers that two of the deputy attorneys general will be named.
According to multiple Supreme Court sources, the late Attorney General Mahbubey Alam was appointed on January 13, 2009 and served a total of 11 years, 6 months and 14 days. During his tenure, Mahbubey Alam tried several times to resign from the position of Attorney General to contest the elections to the National Assembly. But Mahbubey Alam was a very loyal person to the leaders of the current Awami League government. Therefore, the government did not feel the need to seek any other alternative in life to Mahbubey Alam’s qualifications and abilities.
Speaking to various Public Ministry officials and Supreme Court lawyers, who did not want to be named, it emerged that the government attaches importance to the appointment of a new Attorney General after the death of Attorney General Mahbubey Alam. So the recently resigned additional attorney general Murad Reza and Md. They tried to become the attorney general. Momtaz Uddin Fakir. But they quit out of anger, naming none of them. However, the media have been told that the reason for his resignation is “personal”.
Among them, Senior Supreme Court attorney SM Munir was re-elected as Additional Attorney General on September 1. Later, on 8 October, the President appointed AM Amin Uddin, current President and Chief Counsel of the Supreme Court Bar Association, as the 16th Attorney General of Bangladesh.
The sources further said that the two additional attorneys general had prepared their resignation letters on October 8. Two days later, after a holiday, they submitted their resignations from the ministry to send to the president.
Maryland. Momtaz Uddin Fakir was elected Clerk of the Supreme Court Bar Association in 2001-2002. Before that, he was co-editor of the association from 1994 to 1995.
Meanwhile, the lawyer said that the current president of the association has been appointed as attorney general. Momtaz Uddin Fakir said that even if he resigns, we will meet again.
In this regard, Momtaz Uddin Fakir told Jago News: ‘I have resigned for personal reasons. I used to practice at the bar before. Now I will be a regular in practice (again) as a Supreme Court attorney.
However, the Additional Attorney General. Murad Reza said nothing.
It is known that the resignation of the Additional Attorney General after the appointment of the Attorney General is not new. Previously, when the late Supreme Court attorney Mahmudul Islam was appointed Attorney General in 2001, attorney Abdul Wadud resigned from the Office of the Attorney General as Additional Attorney General.
