Roman actress and model Islam Swarna has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammadpur Police. A case has been brought against him for embezzling more than one million rupees from an expat by trapping him in marriage.
In addition to Swarna, his mother Ashraful Islam Sheili (60) and her son Annafi (20) have also been arrested.
They were arrested in the Lalmatia area of Mohammadpur in the capital on Thursday night. DMP Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harun-ur-Rashid confirmed the arrest at an evening press conference.
Meanwhile, Tejgaon Mohammadpur Area DMP Division Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mrityunjay De Sajal told the media that Romana Islam Swarna has been arrested in a case brought against him for embezzling more than millions rupees from a Saudi expatriate businessman.
He said the victim filed a case against Romana Islam Swarna at the Mohammadpur Police Station. According to the victim in the case, Romana Islam cheated on her by marrying her and taking more than million rupees from her at different times.
The victim was identified on Facebook with the gold, the police official said.
