Noakhali DC Khorshed Alam Khan said the 40-member team arrived in Bhasanchar at 5pm on Saturday. They were received by Commodore Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury, director of the Rohingya Refugee Rehabilitation Project.
The team left Cox’s Bazar for Chittagong on Saturday morning in two buses under the supervision of the army. From there they reached Bhasanchar by boat under the supervision of the Bangladesh Navy.
DC Khorshed said the delegation would remain in Bhasanchar until Tuesday. The team members will check if Bhasanchar is suitable for the Rohingya to live.
In this regard, the Bangladesh Government Refugee Aid and Repatriation Commissioner Mahbub Alam Talukder said that in addition to the Rohingya leader, there are two women in the delegation. They stay in Bhasanchar for two days and two nights and see for themselves what kind of facilities have been built there and what the island is like to live in.
The government has adopted a plan to relocate a portion of the 1.1 million Rohingya living outside the Cox’s Bazar refugee camp to the desert island of Bhasan Char in the Meghna estuary near Hatiyar in the wake of various social problems. .

At a cost of Taka 2312 million rupees with the government’s own funds, the infrastructure of 120 pooled villages has been built on the 10,000 acre area and more than one lakh of people has been housed.
The government has already rescued more than 300 Rohingya from the sea and brought them to Bhasanchar.
The government says all arrangements are being made to accommodate the Rohingya. If they go there they will be better than the dense camp life at Cox’s Bazar.
However, several international organizations are concerned about the plan to relocate the Rohingya to the uninhabited char at sea.
