“They arrested Riya on the basis of WhatsApp chats and statements by other defendants,” KPS Malhotra, deputy director (operations) of the Office of Narcotics Control, told the Indian media at the time. Another deputy general manager, Mutha Ashok Jain, said: “We knowingly arrested him because we have sufficient evidence.”
Under the above schedule, the bail enforcement of 18 people, including Riya Chakraborty and Shauvik Chakraborty, was scheduled to end on October 6. But on the same day, the special court extended custody of Riya and Shawvik until October 20. Shauvik Chakraborty, Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda, and assistant Deepesh Sawant are currently in Taloza jail. The Indian Court of Sessions has expanded judicial custody of all of them.
Riya and Shauvik’s request for bail has already been rejected by the Session Court. The lawyer for the accused brothers, Satish Manesindhe, then addressed the Mumbai High Court. On September 29, a seven-hour court of Judge SP Kotwal at the Mumbai High Court heard Riya-Shawvik’s bail. However, the High Court has reserved the bail verdict.
