Rice reaches Bangladesh through various borders in the Indian state of West Bengal. The Economic Times of India published this news on May 8.

There are several trucks waiting to enter Bangladesh with rice on the West Bengal border. These trucks will enter Bangladesh with the permission of the West Bengal State Government. The central government of India has asked the state administration to take the necessary measures in this regard.

However, the West Bengal state government does not want the rice to reach Bangladesh across its own borders for fear that the price may rise if more rice is exported from West Bengal to Bangladesh. The Indian Home Office has taken a tough stance against his decision. He instructed the Chief Secretary of State to issue the necessary permits for the transportation of rice through land ports.

However, despite the recent coronavirus situation, rice has been prevented from entering Bangladesh across the border. Concerned traders say freight companies have to count losses every day as trucks are trapped on the west Bengal-Bangladesh border. Trucks are expected to enter Bangladesh after May 20.

Bangladesh imports basmati rice from Punjab, India, Gobind Bhog from Haryana and other rice from West Bengal.

Although rice is difficult to enter across the border due to recent stagnation, Indian rice has already entered Bangladesh through the Chittagong port.
