Results of the municipal elections

The last one is the first round of voting in the municipal elections. Voting continued on Monday (December 26) in 24 municipalities from 8 am to 4 pm Electronic voting machines (EVM) have been used in all 24 municipalities.

So far, the election has yielded results in 15 municipalities. Of these, 11 have been won by the Awami League, three by independents and one by BNP-backed candidates.

Barguna : Awami League nominee ABM Golam Kabir has been elected mayor for the second time in a row after garnering 11 times more votes than the BNP nominee in the Betagi municipality elections.

The candidate for the ship symbol got 6,102 votes and his closest rival, the BNP-nominated candidate, Humayun Kabir Mallick, got 509 votes for the main rice symbol.

Netrokona: Saiful Islam Saif, nominated for the Awami League, has been declared a private winner in the Madan Township elections. It got 3,141 votes. His closest rival, Dewan Modacher Hossain Shafiq, got 189 votes. Abdul Latif Sheikh, a district election official and reelector, confirmed the results.

Chuadanga : Awami League candidate for mayor Jahangir Alam Malik Khokon Nauka Pratik (32 out of 33 centers) has been unofficially elected with 21,833 votes. His closest rival, rebel BNP candidate Mojibul Haque Malik Maju, got 606 votes for the mobile phone symbol.

Manikganj : Candidate for the Awami League in Manikganj. Ramzan Ali was unofficially elected with 31,575 votes. Ataur Rahman Ata, his closest rival BNP, got 2,334 rice sheaf symbols.

Kuakata : In Kuakata, independent candidate Jag Pratik Md. Anwar Hawlader has been elected with 3333 votes. His closest rival is the ship symbol A. Barek Mollah got 2,084 votes.

Kurigram : Kaziul Islam was elected in 1983 with the symbol of the ship endorsed by the Awami League. The closest rival candidate got 14,000 fewer votes than him.

Thakurgaon : The Awami League’s independent rebel candidate, Ekramul Haque, has been unofficially elected in Pirganj. His closest rival was Rezaul Karim Raja of BNP.

Mymensingh : In Gafargaon, boat candidate SM Iqbal Hossain Sumon won by a wide margin of 12,411 votes. His closest rival candidate, Paddy Sheaf, got 190 votes.

Moulvibazar : The Awami League candidate, Abul Imam, in Baralekha. Kamran Chowdhury was elected with 5,096 votes. His closest rival, Saidul Islam, an independent candidate, got 2,484 votes for the mobile phone symbol. Furthermore, BNP candidate Anwarul Islam got only 724 votes for the main symbol of rice.

Kushtia Tariqul Islam, the symbol of a ship, has been elected mayor of Khoksa for the second time with 9326 votes. His closest candidate to the BNP, Nafiz Ahmed, obtained 1,583 votes.

Dinajpur : Rebel BNP candidate in Phulbari. Mahmud Alam Liton was elected mayor with 746 votes. His closest rival is the current mayor. The Murtuza government obtained 6,040 votes for the Manik Jag symbol. In addition, the candidate ship got 3,460 votes and the rice bundle got 3,042 votes.

Habiganj : BNP candidate in Shayestaganj. Farid Ahmed Oli won with 3,640 votes. His closest rival, Awami League candidate Masuduzzaman Masuk, got 3,139 votes.

Panchagarh : Awami League candidate Zakia Khatun has been elected with 12,058 votes. Its closest rival, BNP Touhidul Islam, got 9,465 votes.

Rangpur : Awami League candidate Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury Tutul has been elected in Badarganj with 9833 votes. His closest rival, independent candidate Azizul Haque, got 446 votes. In addition, the BNP candidate, Firoz Shah, obtained 296 votes.

Barisal : Bakerganj Awami League candidate Lokman Hossain Dakua was elected mayor with 7,041 votes. His closest rival, Maulana Khalilur Rahman, a symbol of the fans of the Islamic Movement in Bangladesh, garnered 2,411 votes. In addition, the BNP candidate obtained 914 votes.
