Minni’s lawyer, ZI Khan Panna, told reporters: “Yesterday we received a copy of the verdict. The verdict will be reviewed and appealed.”

Rifat was publicly shot and killed on June 26 last year on College Road in the Barguna district town of Bharadupura. Discussions began across the country when a moving video of the incident was released on the Internet.

Meanwhile, Minni’s father-in-law later alleged that his daughter-in-law was involved in the murder. On July 17, Minni was called to the Barguna Police Superintendent’s office and interrogated throughout the day. Later that night he was shown arrested in the Rifat murder case.
After questioning Minni in pre-trial detention, the police said that the girl had made a statement of confession to the judge pursuant to section 164. However, Minni’s father, Mozammel Hossain Kishore, alleged that the police had forced Minni to make a confessional statement “torturing and intimidating her.” Later, the High Court granted Minni bail.
Two months after the murder, the investigating officer said. Humayun Kabir filed a charge against 24 people, including Minni, in the Barguna court.
A total of 10 people were charged in one part of the two-part charge sheet. The other part contains the names of 14 minors.
On the first day of this year, the Barguna session and district judge brought charges against 10 adult defendants, including Rifat’s wife, Minni, and ordered the trial to begin.
According to him, the testimony began on January 8. After hearing the arguments of 8 people, the case reached the verdict stage after the hearing of arguments.

The court sentenced six defendants to death, including Rifat Sharif’s wife, Ayesha Siddique Minni. The four remaining defendants were acquitted.
