The main components of the first unit of the Rooppur nuclear power plant, a nuclear reactor, pressure vessel or nuclear reactor and a steam generator, set sail from the Volga River in Russia and reached the port of Mongla in Bangladesh after crossing about 14,000 km by sea.

Sources from the Ministry of Science and Technology said that on Monday (October 19) at 11 am, after crossing about 14,000 kilometers from the Volga River in Russia by sea, it reached the outer port of the Mongla seaport in Bangladesh. From there, the pieces arrived at the port of Mongla at 4 p.m. on Tuesday (October 20).

Project manager for the Rooppur nuclear power plant. Maryland. Shaukat Akbar told the Bangla Tribune that this special equipment will be transferred from the Russian Federation maritime ship to the local special barge in Bangladesh. Now unloading from the Mother Ship. On November 5, another ship with these pieces will begin its journey from the port of Mongla to Rooppur. It will arrive at the newly built Rooppur seaport in the project area in Padmapara on November 20 or 21 via Chandpur by river.

“These are the most important components of a nuclear power plant,” he said. The pressure vessels in nuclear reactors are nuclear reactors. Where will the main fuel be. It can be called the heart of a nuclear power plant. And the steam generator is also an important part of this reactor.

Dr. Shaukat Akbar said: ‘We brought the most important parts of the first unit from this power plant. Little by little all the pieces will come.

“We hope that soon Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the installation of this nuclear reactor, pressure vessel and steam generator,” he said.

Another ministry official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the milestone of the Rooppur nuclear power plant project was achieved with the shipment of pressure vessels from reactors and steam generators to the country. This is a historic event. With this, the Bengali nation’s long-cherished dream of building a nuclear power plant took another step on the road to becoming a reality.

The first unit of the Rooppur nuclear power plant is expected to enter production in 2023 and the second unit in 2024.

Earlier, Rosatom, a Russian state company that built the plant, said the nuclear reactor weighed 333.6 tons and the steam generator weighed 340 tons. The transfer and transport of these parts is a complex process. In particular, the reactors and steam generators are automatically transported to a jetty in Simlyansk, Volgodonsk. From there they reach Novorossiysk. From there it reached Mongla via the Black Sea and the Suez Canal.

According to JSC Automenergomash, Rosatom’s manufacturing arm, these are manufactured at the Automas factory in Volgodonsk, Russia. Russia considers the VVER-1200 technology to be the safest.

According to Rosatom, the security arrangements for the VVER-1200 nuclear power plant are unimaginable. This technology is called pioneer or more than three than the third generation. Such technology can ensure safety without the help of any operator, even if the power is completely disconnected.

In total, the Rooppur nuclear power plant will have 2,400 megawatts of electricity.
