Jinnat Ali from Shashan village in Kushura, a union of the Upazila, has been accused of raping a widow in Dhaka’s Dhamrai. The raped woman is currently seven months pregnant. Police arrested Jinnat Ali from the Nandeshwari area of upazila on Saturday night.
According to the victim and police sources, the woman’s husband was murdered about two years ago in the Bara Narayanpur village of the Amta union of the upazila. The mother of three has been working as a highway development contractor ever since. At that time she became acquainted with Jinnat Ali.
Seven months ago, Jinnat Ali took the woman to a brick kiln and raped her. The victim did not tell anyone about the rape incident with the children in mind. Meanwhile, after seven months, seeing the change in his body, he went to the doctor. The medical examination revealed that she was seven months pregnant. When the news spread in the area, Jinnat Ali covered his body. Later, the police covered the woman at the police station and took a rape case on behalf of Jinnat.
Jinnat Ali is an active member of the interdistrict gang. There are several cases including murder and robbery at the Dhamrai police station, said Russell Hossain, inspector in charge of the Kawalipara Bazar Research Center.
