A Turkish court sentenced the popular television preacher Adnan Oktar, 74, to 1,075 years in prison on multiple charges, including sexual abuse of women.
Oktar was indicted in court Monday on charges of sexual harassment, sexual abuse of minors, fraud and political and military espionage. Later, the court issued the verdict.
There are accusations against Oktar that he used to surround women with obscene clothing and call them “kittens”.
When Adnan Oktar preached creativity and conservative values, half-naked clothed women danced around him to evoke music in television studios, Dawn Online reported. Many of those women are believed to have undergone plastic surgery.
In 2016, Istanbul Police arrested Adnan Oktar along with more than two hundred followers.
According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency, there is evidence that Adnan Okta was involved in the failed military coup in Turkey in 2016 led by American missionary Fethullah Gulen.
According to The Guardian, Adnan Oktar has denied the allegations. He called the sexual harassment incident a fictitious city golt.
In early December, Oktar told the judge that he had about a thousand girlfriends.
“My heart is full of love for women,” Oktar told a hearing in October. Love is a human quality. This is the quality of a Muslim. In another hearing, he said: “I am extraordinarily strong.
Oktar’s name came to the fore in a series of scandals in 1990. At trial, a woman told the court that she had sexually abused him and other women. Some women were forced to take birth control pills after being raped. The woman joined there at the age of 18.
The police raided Oktar’s home and recovered 98,000 birth control pills. In this regard, Oktar said, she used these birth control pills for skin diseases and irregular menstruation in women.
