Jessore: Apparently a woman was raped on a bus in Jessore. The incident took place near a cold room in the Manihar area of the city of Jessore on Thursday (September 8).
A transportation worker named Monir Hossain was arrested in the incident on Friday (October 9). Monir’s house is in the Rajarhat area of Jessore Sadar upazila. The victim’s home is in the Shalikha area of Magura.
According to the police, the woman used to travel from Jessore to Rajshahi from time to time. To do this, he previously knew Monir Hossain, the driver of the MK Paribahan bus bound for Rajshahi. He arrived in Jessore from Rajshahi in another transport on Thursday night. He contacted Monir telling him that it was not possible to reach Shalikha that night. Monir’s tactics led him to board a MK Paribahan bus parked near a cold room in the Manihar area of the city. Then he raped her on the bus. The woman subsequently filed a complaint with the police, and the police raided and arrested Monir.
Jessore Additional Police Superintendent (DSB) Mohammad Touhidul Islam told banglanews that bus driver Monir has been arrested on charges of raping a Rajshahi woman.
