A 72-year-old woman was raped in Munshiganj. The rapist Quader Sheikh (38) tried to cover up the incident by exchanging 10 eggs and one hundred rupees for the old woman. The old woman was raped in the East Shilmandir area in the Munshiganj municipal area on Friday night while performing ablution for Esha prayers. The victim is now receiving treatment at Munshiganj General Hospital. The accused Quader Sheikh is the son of the late Amir Sheikh from the same area.
According to the raped woman and the police, the 72-year-old woman left her home to perform the ablution of Esha prayers on Friday night. At that moment, the identified drug addict Kader Sheikh (38) grabbed her face and raped her. Later that night, the defendant Kader again threatened to kill the old woman’s children and asked the old woman to cover up the incident in exchange for 10 eggs and 100 rupees.
On Saturday morning, when the old woman’s physical condition deteriorated, her close relatives working in Munshiganj municipality were informed about the matter. When the municipal mayor was later reported on the matter, the mayor claimed to remain by his side and advised legal action. The old woman filed a complaint with the Sadar police station for the rape at noon.
The defendant Kader blocked his way and threatened him even after he filed a complaint and left the house for treatment. Munshiganj Sadar OC Anichur Rahman Police Station said: I have received reports of rape. Attempts are being made to arrest the rapist.
