Helal Uddin Sheikh arrested on rape charges
Police arrested a man named Helal Uddin Sheikh (58) for raping three children at the same time in Ashulia in Dhaka. The incident took place in the North Mollapara area of Ashulia last Tuesday. Helal was arrested Thursday night after a complaint was made by calling the National Emergency Service at 999. Ashulia Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ziaul Islam confirmed the matter.
The arrested Helal Uddin Sheikh is the son of the late Fayez Uddin from Chayani Rasulpur village under the Gafargaon Police Station in Mymensingh District. He currently owns a house in Tayyabpur, Ashulia. The police sent him to court seeking a seven-day pre-trial detention.
Police say that some garment workers live in Helal Uddin’s home. One of the families left their two children at home on October 8 and went to work. Later, Helal called the two and another boy and took them home. He told them to buy chocolates. Later, he raped the three boys together out of fear. When the children’s parents returned home from work, they began to cry and told the story. When this was reported, one of the local national emergency services called 999 and complained.
Police raided the Ashulia area in North Mollapara on Thursday night. He later arrested Helal Uddin at his home. The Ashulia police sent the victims to the One Stop Crisis Center Hospital of the Dhaka Medical College (DMC).
Ashulia Police Station Inspector Ziaul Islam said a case was brought against Helal Uddin under the Abuse of Women and Children Act after her arrest. He was arrested in the case and sent to court on remand for 7 days. All three children have been sent for a medical check-up. More measures are being taken.
